THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the party supporters in the Benue south have pledged to continue their support for David Mark, former Senate president, to repeat his electoral victory in the rerun election ordered by the court of appeal.

The PDP in a statement signed by Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary of the party, on Monday, November 30, described Mark as an asset to the nation and expressed confidence that the people of Benue south senatorial zone, as ardent members and supporters of the PDP since 1999, would remain steadfast behind him at the rerun election.

Metuh said his confidence that the party would retain the senatorial seat was even stronger now that the deceit of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had become obvious to all Nigerians.

The party said the inexplicable ruling of the appeal court, even when all evidence pointed to Mark’s victory as upheld by the lower tribunal, was yet another evidence of the APC’s dangerous interference in the judiciary, which negative consequences the PDP would continue to alert the nation.

The party also noted the significant contributions of Mark in growing and stabilising the nation’s democracy through his mature, responsible and patriotic leadership of the Senate, saying such value was still highly needed in the polity.

The PDP, therefore, urged its members in Benue south to resist any attempt to intimidate them, especially in their determination to ensure effective and result-oriented representation in the Senate as typified in Mark.
