A don, Prof. Chubah Ezeh, on Wednesday called for the building of result oriented institutions that would deliver stipulated mandates to the people.

Ezeh, a lecturer in Department of Political Science in Chukwuemeka Odomegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Anambra, made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.

He said that standards and rules would only last and sink in everyone through vibrant institutions with men and women of integrity as their drivers.

According to him, whereas perceived strong and influential individuals come and go within a limited period, institutions are meant to last beyond several generations as long as they will remain relevant to societal needs.

Ezeh, a Professor of Political-Economics, said: “The earlier we start to build strength and focus around institutions, the better for the country.

“If we build strength on individuals it will not go down too well with us after certain period of time since individuals would surely leave after a while.”

He said that the excesses being displayed in various quarters of our national life were as a result of weak and dysfunctional institutions.

The don said it was wrong that most institutions could not carry out their constitutional mandates even when there was a clear breach on their constitutional mandates. (NAN)
