THE new Zonal Commanding Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi, Asst. Corps Marshal Imoh Etuk, on Wednesday warned motorists in the state not to bribe his officers, but to endeavour to always be on the side of the law.

The Zonal commander, who is overseeing Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states, gave the warning while addressing newsmen during his familiarization visit to the state sector command in Bauchi.

“We are sending warnings to motoring public in Bauchi not to bribe our men, rather, they should do the needful.

“When you do the needful, you will not run foul of the law. It is only when you are deficient that you would be using money to bribe people around.

“Don’t use money to bribe any officer, because the anti corruption squad of the corps would go out to ensure that these things are properly monitored,” he said.

Etuk reiterated the FRSC’s plans toward ensuring that the welfare of its officers were adequately and effectively catered for.

“Welfare is paramount, and welfare we shall continue to do. Staff welfare doesn’t only mean you increase their salary, it includes motivational talks, career growth and prospects for promotion.

“Recently, very senior officers were promoted; those that are marshals would also go through the promotion exercises and would be promoted. So, these are the things that make people highly motivated to face their jobs,” he said.

Etuk also called on all motorists and road users to always obey traffic rules. (NAN)
