THE General Manager of the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr Olajide Borode, has warned Ekiti residents against buying lands during rainy season to avert flood disaster.

Borode gave this warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.

He advised residents to avoid buying cheap lands, especially the ones on waterways which could lead to loss of lives and property in the future.

Mr Borode also cautioned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse to prevent outbreak of epidemic diseases.

He further called on residents to always bag their wastes properly so that refuse would not litter the streets.

The general manager urged them to report people found dumping refuse in unauthorised places to the relevant authorities for prompt action

He advised citizens affected during the last flood disaster in the state, especially those on the waterways to vacate the place till the rainy season recedes. (NAN)
