AS preparations for the Easter celebration continue, travellers in Mararaba, near FCT, have decried non availability of vehicles to travel for the festival.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that passengers were stranded at the various motor parks in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on Friday, due to lack of vehicles.

Our Correspondent who visited the popular Abdullahi Adamu Motor Park, close to Orange Market, saw passengers sitting with their luggage waiting for vehicles.

One of the passengers, Mrs Grace Adamu, a civil servant traveling to Jos for the Easter, said vehicles were not available at the park.

“We have been here for close to one hour and no vehicle to board; its like the patronage is high and almost all the vehicles have left.

“I just hope to get a vehicle that will take me to Jos; I prefer the park because it is safe, but if I see that time is against me, I will look for an alternative.

Another traveler, Miss Helen Bako, said she just arrived the motor park, but was disappointed that the only bus available was going to Gombe and Bauchi.

“They will not want to carry Jos passengers, that is their rule here, unless the vehicle is almost full then, they will allow one or two Jos passengers to enter.

“I may have to stand by the roadside, outside the park to get a taxi to Jos,” Bako said.

Malam Sule Ibrahim, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), said that most of the vehicles had taken off to their various destinations.

“The ones we have now are those going to Suleja, Lokoja and other nearby towns, but others for Jos, Taraba, and Adamawa and other places have gone,” Ibrahim said.

Similary, passengers were stranded at the New Nyanya Motor Park.

Mr Terwase Tyor, a passenger traveling to Benue, said, “as you can see, the park is empty, no bus; and this is the only transport company that has credibility on the route to Benue.

“However, we hope that vehicles will soon come to take us to our various destinations,” tyor said. (NAN)
