Some residents, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Enugu said they were fully prepared and eagerly waiting for Feb. 16 so as to exercise their voting right.

Miss Chioma Ugwunnadi, a 300 level female student of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) said that she was ready to cast her vote come Saturday, Feb 16.

According to Ugwunnadi, many youths will be out to cast their vote, especially on Saturday, because of the level of awareness on the need for one to exercise his or her voting right.

She added that she had been encouraging the youths in her neighborhood to try as much as possible to obtain their voters’ card and as well vote on Election Day.

Mrs Oby Eze, a nurse, said she was ready to go to the poll to cast her vote for the candidate of her choice.

Eze added that those who were calling for the boycott of the election were ignorant of whom they were and at the same time, displaying nonchalant -attitudes over important matters of their lives.

She urged all Enugu citizens to disregard any sort of advice of boycotting election because it would do the state no good.

“Let us come out en mass to vote for our choice candidates, let us not be deceived by any person or group of persons, because we all are Nigerians.

“Everyone has a say in this country and I believe our votes will count,” she said.

Mr Anthony Okechukwu, a Tricycle rider, said he had decided to vote on Feb 16 after listening to the advice of his pastor in the church on a Sunday service.

Okechukwu added that his pastor admonished the congregation on the importance of exercising their voting right, saying that everyone was a stakeholder in deciding who to lead the country.

Mrs Onyekachi Agu, a salon owner, said she had collected her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) adding that she was eagerly waiting for the election day.

“I have my PVC already with me, my prayer is that let nothing stop me from going out to vote because I have been looking forward to the election day,” Agu said.

However, Mr Nnaemeka Nwaka said he would have loved to be part of the eligible voters but due to his inability to collect his PVC, he would not be voting.

Nwaka called on all eligible voters in the state to do the needful on the election day as it was their right to choose the candidates of their choice.
