THE Justice Peace Commission of the Catholic Church, on Monday in Lagos, urged political parties and their candidates to accept the outcome of the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The group which was involved in the monitoring of the elections said though there were some infractions in the process, they were insignificant.

Mr Gab Chukwueke, President of Ojo Chapter of the commission told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that in human society perfection was rare.

Chukwueke, who was an observer, said that allowing the courts to determine the outcome of election was wrong.

“The people’s verdict should be supreme above the verdict from the court rooms, that may be full of technicalities.

“The electorate have given their votes, and the power to declare winners entrusted with INEC, candidates should respect the wishes of the electorate, instead of going to court.’’

Chukwueke noted that the judiciary has many unresolved cases at hand, adding that many elections related cases may further delay cases in the courts. (NAN)
