THE Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) in Gombe state will distribute sensitive materials for Governorship and State Assembly elections across the 11 local Government Areas of the state on Thursday.

Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) stated this in an interview with newsmen in Gombe on Tuesday.

Umar, who spoke through the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Mohorret Bigun, said that the commission commenced sorting of the materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the exercise.

The REC said after the distribution of the materials to the LGAs, the exercise would proceed to the Registration Areas.

He also said that the non sensitive materials were earlier distributed across the 11 LGAs successfully.

Umar said all the Smart Card Readers were retrieved after the Presidential and National Assembly polls for reconfiguration and ready for the Governorship and State Assembly elections.

He said most of the errors experienced on the Cards Readers during the previous elections were human.

According to him, the commission will organise refresher training for the ad-hoc staff to address some of the challenges experience during the last elections.

He called on the public to be peaceful during the March 9 elections and get accredited to enable them to vote. (NAN)
