CONCERNED Nation Builders Initiative (CNI), an NGO, has urged eligible voters in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos state not to be demoralised by postponement of the elections.

Instead, they should see the development as a challenge aimed at encouraging them to vote enmasse, come Feb. 23.

Mrs Peju Akanji, the Mobilisation Officer of the (NGO), gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe on Monday.

“Your vote is your civic right and responsibility, you must exercise it. If you don’t vote, your vote won’t count, therefore, come out enmasse on Feb. 23 to vote for your candidates of your choice,” she said.

According to her, God has reason for everything in life, adding that postponing the election date may be the best for the country.

She, however, faulted INEC’s late hour decision to postpone the exercise, but assured residents of a peaceful election next Saturday.

INEC said it postponed the elections due to logistics and other challenges.

Akanji urged the voters to get their PVC ready and mobilise to vote in good leaders for and to enjoy good governance.

She also advised INEC to utilise the extension date as an opportunity to continue giving PVC to  their owners who had not collected their cards and ensure they vote.

Akanji appealed to youths to desist from thuggery, ballot box snatching and other forms of social vices during and after the elections.

She also advised the electorate to vote based on their conscience and not to be manipulated by stipends from politicians.

“Don’t sell your vote, your vote is your right, it might make a difference. Do not trade your vote for rice or stipend,” she said. (NAN)
