PREGNANT women, the elderly persons and people living with disabilities (PLWDs), have expressed joy for the preferential treatment accorded them at the various polling centres in Enugu South on Saturday.

Mr Chuks Agu, a person living with disability at unit 17, ward 13, thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for directing its officers to recognise the aged, pregnant women and those living with disabilities.

Agu added that the preferential treatment given to them made some of them to turnout again for the governorship election.

He called on INEC to continue to have those with disabilities in mind when carrying out their electoral duties.

At unit 10, Ward 13, another person living with disability, Mr Ignatius Okeke lauded INEC for recognising their presence, adding that those living with disabilities were normal human beings as others.

Okeke said that INEC had given those living with disabilities a sense of belonging, urging other agencies to emulate the agency while interacting with them.

Mr Chima Oraneri, a 70 year-old man, expressed joy on the voting process and lauded the officials at his polling unit for making it easy for the aged to vote.

Mrs Ifeoma Onyia, a pregnant woman, lauded the officials and INEC for making it possible for her to cast her vote without wasting much time on queue.

Onyia said that with the process, many pregnant women would be willing to come out to cast their vote in subsequent elections.

A party agent, Mr Jude Okwor of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), lauded INEC for coming up with the idea of attending to the pregnant women, the elderly ones and those living with disabilities before others and creating special queue for them at all polling units.
