THE Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) has called on Nigerians to shun all forms of electoral violence throughout the upcoming general elections.

FOMWAN in a statement on Tuesday urged all politicians and their supporters as well as the electorate to avoid all forms of violence before, during and after elections, noting that violence doe not solve any problem.

FOMWAN however appreciated all Nigerians, particularly youths, for been calm and patient with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the postponement of the general elections.

The association urged Nigerians to see the postponement as “part of the enrichment of our electoral process and come out en mass to vote during the elections’’.

“We also urge the Women as mothers, sisters and wives to encourage the men to be patient and come out en mass on Feb. 23 and March 9, 2019, to exercise their civil and constitutional rights.

“We also encourage all Nigerians to support INEC in delivering free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.

“FOMWAN recognise and appreciates other civil society groups, domestic and international groups on the matured and responsible role they played in encouraging electorates,” the statement read in part. (NAN)
