THE House of Representatives on Tuesday, May 16, hinted that it might intervene in the ongoing probe of Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The state Assembly had on May 10 constituted an eight-member panel to probe Sanusi over alleged abuse of office and improper conduct, among other allegations.
The Assembly’s action came barely weeks after the state anti-corruption agency launched an investigation into allegations of financial impropriety running into billions of naira levelled against the emir.
But raising a point of order (personal explanation) at plenary, Aliyu Sani Madaki, a representative from Kano called the attention of the House to the impending crisis saying that the probe might throw the entire Kano State into crisis and therefore, called on the House to intervene.
