OSITA Chidoka, a former minister of aviation will deliver the 2019 Ahiajoku Lecture series at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre in Owerri, Imo.

Mr Ikechukwu Okafor, Special Adviser to Chidoka, who made the disclosure on Thursday in Awka, said the colloquium would hold on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30.

He said the Ahiajoku Festival and Colloquium was a forum for Igbo intellectual harvest and cultural renaissance founded in 1979 by former governor of Imo, Mr Sam Mbakwe.

The 2019 edition marks the 40th anniversary of the Pan-Igbo Cultural Festival.

He quoted Dr Amanze Obi, the Director-General of Ahiajoku Institute, Owerri, as saying the Lecture Series was initiated as an intellectual festival which celebrates Igbo civilization and culture.

“The Imo State Governor, Mr Emeka Ihedioha, has taken it upon himself to revive the almost moribund lecture series as part of his intervention in culture and tourism in the state.

“This year’s festival will draw attention to the great attainments of the Ahiajoku Lecture Series since its inception 40 years ago,” he said in statement.

Okafor said Chidoka, who would be a Special Guest of the governor, will deliver a lecture on “Leadership in Igboland: Urgent Need For A Paradigm shift”.

He said some of the eminent Igbo scholars who have delivered lecture in the Ahiajoku Colloquium included Prof. Ben Nwabueze, Prof. Chinua Achebe, Prof. Pius Okigbo, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Prof. Emmanuel Obiechina, Mr V.C. Uchendu and Mr M.A. Onwuejiogu, among others.
