FG Declares Thursday Public Holiday

THE federal government has declared Thursday, October 1, as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 55th independence celebration.
Abubakar Magaji, permanent secretary, ministry of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the government in a statement signed by Yusuf Isiaka, director of press in the ministry, on Monday, September 28.
Magaji used the opportunity to congratulate all Nigerians both at home and abroad also thanked them for their support to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.
He appealed to al Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.
