FG to improve on well-being of Nigerians through interventions

THE Federal Government said on Tuesday, that it would ensure the well-being of Nigerians through its numerous interventions in all sectors of the economy.

Amina Shamaki, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and Chairman Governing Board of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) made this pledge at the maiden meeting of the board.

The pledge was contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Mrs Ifeoma Ndefo, Assistant Director Press NABDA in Abuja.

The chairman said the meeting became necessary after the inauguration of the board by Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology.

Shamaki said that the Federal Government set up governing boards for each agency of government to ensure that the aspirations, needs and well-being of the citizens are met.

According to her, the primary role of the board is to provide proper guidance and general policy formulation for implementation by the management team.

She described the NABDA board creation as epoch-making and one of the measures taken by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to add value to governance.

The permanent secretary charged the seven-man board to bring their vast experiences to bear on sustenance and effective implementation of the laudable projects and innovations of NABDA.

She added that science, innovation and technology remained the essential tool to fast-track socio-economic development of nations, hence an important tool for the successful actualisation of the aspirations of the current administration. (NAN)
