FG to refund N37.95b to Anambra says Sen Umeh

VICTOR Umeh, the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Senate, has disclosed that the federal government had approved a refund of N37.95 billion of N42 billion it owes Anambra.

The debt was as a result of rehabilitation of roads and other intervention projects on FG facilities in the state.

Umeh, chairman Senate Committee on Labour and Productivity announced this at Isu-Aniocha, Awka North Council Area during the inauguration of his 2019 campaign organisation.

The lawmaker commended FG for assenting to requests made by the senate for refund of debts owed the state government for undertaking some projects in their states.

He pointed out that the refund would enable Governor Willie Obiano to consolidate on his developmental strides.

According him, the massive and progressive infrastructure development in Anambra government through collaboration of concerned federal ministries and agencies in the state is laudable.

He reiterated his resolve to make meaningful inputs in the senate to assist the state to get its fair share of federal presence.

The senator explained that the level of ongoing federal projects in the state was a departure from what obtained before inception of the Obiano administration in March 17, 2014.

He commended the cordial relationship between FG and the state governments on social development, appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari, to do the needful in time to enable state governments to deliver more dividends of democracy.

On rerun election tribunal judgment, Umeh said his victory was a confirmation that Anambra Central Senatorial District and the entire state was for APGA.
