Christians have been urged to give to God in proportion to what they have so, as to receive the benefits attached to giving. Anthony Ezekannaya, a reverend father, made the appeal in a homily at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amawbia, Awka South LGA on Oct. 28 during Children/Youths Harvest and Bazaar.

Ezekannaya said: “whatever you have is by God’s grace and that God does not make mistakes in blessing you to help others.

“What do you have that were not given to you by God?

“You are only but mortal. Yesterday, the world was not enough for you but in death, 6ft will be more enough for you.

“Accept the reality that daily you are going closer to your grave and there will be surprises on the last day,’’ he added.

The cleric said that Christians should always praise God in thanksgiving by giving Him what is commensurate to what they have.

“If occult people can make great sacrifices, what about Christians who worship the Supreme God, why can’t we give to Him what is due to Him?

“Stop attaching interest in the things that are ephemeral but live for that which matters,’’ he said.

Ezekannaya explained that he was there to harvest souls for God, emphasising that when a soul knows Christ, “it will be able to keep the ordinances of God’’.

He noted that most Christians live and do things ignorantly, urging all to stop misplacing their priority which is to live with Christ on the last day.
