Governor Forgives Woman Who Looted N3.1 billion from State Coffers
Politics
A Nigerian State Governor has forgiven a woman indicted of looting over N3.1 billion from the state treasury, a report this morning said.
Erstwhile Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Bridget Sheidu, was indicted by a probe panel set up by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
She is one of the 52 persons directed by the Justice Margaret Kpojime-led investigative panel that probed the eight-year tenure of former governor, Gabriel Suswam, to return about N107 billion to the state coffers.
Some of those indicted by the panel have been returning their loot, among them a corporate organisation which in June returned N355.9 million to the State Government.
However, Governor Ortom yesterday directed that Mrs. Sheidu
“be pardoned,” a report in New Telegraph said.
The report did not give reason for the governor’s decision. – News Express
