Governorship election: Ihedioha’s victory is for Imo people – professionals

THE declaration of Emeka Ihedioha, as the winner of Imo Governorship election on Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has attracted reactions from Imo people in Lagos State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that change of baton in the state was greeted with jubilations in Lagos with Imo people in the state declaring free drinks to exit era of holocaust in Imo.

Mr Obi Anyawu, spokesman of League of Imo Professionals in Lagos State, one of the bodies that played significant role in the change of leadership baton in Imo said the victory was for people of Imo.

Anyawu, said Imo had been under spell of darkness since past years and the sporadic jubilation was to vent suppressed joy and herald the era of good leadership that would work in tandem with peoples’ aspirations.

“We are happy that the era of propaganda has come to an end now we are relieved that the awaited time according to the Holy book has come in our own time in the state.

“The state have not known anything call development  and now the peoples’ choice is in the saddle, all that is remaining is for the governor elect to fire from all cylinders and give the state the much expected growth that had  eluded the  state since eight years of Okorocha’s reign,’’ he said.

According to him Imo parade the best of human capital but that endowment were being suppressed by bad leadership visiting the people with untold hardship and misery.

He said prosperity would not be kind to us present citizens of the educational gifted state if we do not act to change the tide of time for good.

The Imo professional spokesman, who congratulated the governor elect for his victory at the poll, advised him not to waste any time in hitting the ground running to bring the much desired development to the state.

He added that the whole citizens of the state were with him, adding that he should not allow himself to be cowed by any group at all (NAN)
