OBIAGELIAKU Umeadi, the acting permanent secretary, Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment says all is set for qualified staff of her ministry to face promotion interviews for upliftment.

“This is in line with the directive to the ministries and extra-ministerial bodies to provide list of eligible staff for the exercise,’’ she told her interviewers.

“I have mandated the head of administration in the ministry to include briefs on those qualified for the 2017 promotion interview.

“Those that are qualified will be informed ahead of the scheduled dates; this will be in batches. The exercise will also be as hitch-free as possible,’’ she said.

Umeadi added that the ministry will be collaborating with the State Civil Service Commission in fixing suitable dates for the exercise.

Obianuju Uzoh, the head, Administration Department, said no fewer than 153 workers in the ministry would be due for the interview.

Meanwhile, Rose Ezeanya, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Housing, said her ministry was prepared for the promotion exercise.

“The briefs on those for the exercise are ready. We received the guidelines for the interview from the Civil Service Commission.

“We are awaiting the Commission’s approval of our tentative dates for the exercise; most probably, Feb. 18 and Feb. 19,” she said.

She added: “the interview is very important because if one is stagnant in service for long, he may feel like quitting the job.”
