The Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, on Friday cautioned political appointees in the state not to use their positions in self promotion, but as an opportunity to render selfless service to the people.

She said they must imbibe the attitude of humility, dedication and commitment in discharging their duties, so as to attain the level of development people in the state expect from the government.

The Deputy Governor made the remarks in Kaduna while declaring open a two-day retreat organised for some of the political appointees working in the Government House.

She said they have all been assigned to use their respective talents and knowledge towards making lives better for the people of the State.

According to her, the retreat was organized to provide a platform to enable them interact with one another and create a working environment to deliver services to the people.

“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work closely with you all, especially in defending and promoting our common goal.

“As political appointees, you constitue a tiny segment of  politically active persons in Kaduna State”.

Balarabe, therefore, said their mission in goverment should be to enhance the central commitment of the Governor by  projecting and promoting equality of opportunities for the citizens.

“The people we have pledged to serve deserve a resolute response to make their lives better.

“We have no option than to strengthen our resolve in this regard because our work is to have collective responsibility towards services delivery.

“The Governor has indicated zeal and passion to accomplish more in human capital development by attracting investments, creating jobs, building infrastructure and generally making Kaduna a better place for its citizens.

“You should consider your self privileged to be part of our team that has been assembled by such a man.

“As political appointees, it is binding on you to help realise the vision of the Governor by producing and creating innovative ideas that will advance your  area of engagement.

“You should provide constructive feedback, engage citizens and strive relentlessly to deliver quality output always”.

She said governance is not a theatre for self promotion, but a place of collaboration in attaining collective goals through the highest level of personal responsibility. (NAN)
