THE Kano State Government has reaffirmed its willingness to support the ongoing State and Local Government Reform Project (SLOGOR) to ensure its effective implementation in the State.

The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of the reform project, which paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Kano on Wednesday.

The State and Local Government Reform Project was initiated to reform the public financial management system as it relates to proper planning and implementation of budget and expenditure in states and local governments.

Gawuna said in a statement that as the programme had only a year to wind up, the state government would use every opportunity at its disposal to drive the most expected benefits.

In the statement signed and issued by his Public Relations Officer,  Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi, the deputy governor said: “I am impressed by the presence of legislature in the pursuance of issues like this.

“I am confident your active participation will definitely yield very positive results’’.

Gawuna said the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje would continue to ensure proper coordination and cooperation among the benefiting states.

He requested the team to outline areas that needed the state’s intervention to strengthen full implementation of the programme.

The deputy governor stressed the issue of SLOGOR in Kano and expectations that the state legislature and other stakeholders would be fully involved and work together to streamline financial activities in the state.

Earlier, the task team leader, Mr. Ekechukwu Ewenze, informed the deputy governor that their visit was to discuss the potential benefits that could be driven by the state when the programme was given the needed support and implementation.

Ewenze said that one of the aims of the SLOGOR projects was to support easy administration and effective governance in Nigeria.

He commended the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje for the support and cooperation given to the programme since its commencement two and half years ago.
