The senator representing Ogun East, Mr Buruji Kashamu, has advised the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Uche Secondus, to unite the two PDP factions in Ogun State.

Kashamu said reconciliation, rather than taking sides, should be Secondus’ focus.

He also advised the PDP national leadership led by Secondus to respect two court judgments validating  Adebayo Dayo as the PDP Chairman in Ogun State.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission was right to accept the list of candidates submitted for the 2019 elections by the Adebayo Dayo executive rather than the one submitted by the PDP National Working Committee.

A statement on Sunday quoted Kashamu to have said this in a November 4, 2018 letter, which he wrote to Secondus.

“The power to organise state congress and elect governorship candidates for the party resides in the state chairman and not the National Chairman or the National Executive Committee,” Kashamu said.

Making reference to the PDP constitution as well as the Constitution of Nigeria, Kashamu added, “Assuming without conceding that the court vests the national leadership with the powers to submit names to INEC, it never envisaged a situation where the minders of the party would be as reckless as to serially disobey subsisting court judgments and orders.” – Punch
