The state indigenes also rally support for Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress

HUNDREDS of Kwara State indigenes resident in Abuja yesterday staged a rally to protest against what they termed misrule of the state by a few elites.

The peaceful protest also served as a rally in support of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its gubernatorial candidate in the state, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman. Prayers were offered to mark his birthday and success in next month’s election.

Led by the deputy governorship candidate, Kayode Alabi, the protesters, with banners bearing the APC slogan, o to ge, decried the economic woes witnessed by the people of the state in the last eight years.

Bamidele Oladimeji, the co-ordinator, Kwara State APC Youth Vanguard, while decrying the present sorry state of Kwara said the liberation from servitude in the state is long overdue, even as he urged Kwarans to vote the right candidates in the coming elections to guarantee good governance and equitable development across the state.

“We are committed Kwarans who feel the time for liberation is long overdue. Today there is nothing to write home about in the state. The PDP has left no meaningful development. What we have is huge debts; many of our workers, especially in the local governments, are still owed over 16 months of salary. We can no longer continue like this, there must be a stop.

“We are bringing our able, dynamic and credible Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. In him we have someone qualified who can pilot the affairs of Kwara state who can salvage us from the hands and shackles of the one man dynasty which we all know,” Oladimeji.

Asmau Zakari, a business woman, said many Kwarans are yearning for change because they feel frustrated by the misrule of the present government in the state despite its resources.  She also promised voters in support of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Alabi urged all members of APC to come out en mass, vote and guide their votes without fear of molestation.

“I can assure you that as much as you can come out to vote and guide our votes very well, we will win by the grace of God but we need to be very smart and watchful; don’t let anybody scare you from voting we have to come out to vote for our destiny and a bright future,” he added.
