THE Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, Muyiwa Oladipo, says the newly-inaugurated Task Force Committee on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is to achieve an inclusive growth in the council.

Oladipo  made the assertion while inaugurating the five-man committee on IGR at the council’s secretariat in Omu-Aran, Kwara.

The chairman, who noted that the era of relying solely on funds from Federation Account was gone for good, expressed confidence in the ability of the committee members to deliver.

He said that the inauguration of the committee was also informed by the need to boost the council’s revenue profile and fast track its socio-economic development.

The council boss charged the committee members to exhibit honesty, diligence and transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Oladipo, while emphasising the need for the members to work with relevant stakeholders to ease their assignment, assured them of maximum assistance in achieving their mandate and target.

“Inaugurating this all-important committee cannot be better than now when our people are yearning for improved welfare and better living conditions.

“We are optimistic that the committee will work assiduously to block revenue leakages and loopholes to boost our revenue target for inclusive growth.

“It is, therefore, in the light of this fact that I call on the good people of the council across various communities to give the committee the needed support to succeed,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee which is headed by Mr Yinka Adenigba, the council’s Area Revenue Officer, also included the council’s Secretary, Mr Agboola Olayemi as member.

Adenigba while responding on behalf of members, thanked the council for the opportunity given to them to serve.

He pledged that the committee would explore every available avenue and all resources for timely achievement of its aims and objectives. (NAN)
