THE All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has accused Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Felix Obuah, state chairman of the PDP, of lying to people in the state in order to get their sympathy.

Chris Finebone, publicity secretary, Rivers State APC, gave the charge while responding to claims by Wike and Obuah that the PDP meant well for the people of the state.

Puncturing the claim, Finebone said in a statement that the Nne Furo Kurubo Model Secondary School, Eleme, arguably the best secondary School in Nigeria, which was established by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former governor and member of the APC, had been shut down permanently by Wike. Besides, he alleged that all the state-of-the-arts primary schools built by the Amaechi regime in the state had all been overgrown with grasses.

“Rivers State students on state government scholarships abroad are being deported because Nyesom Wike has refused to pay their fees and upkeep even if he keeps deceiving Rivers people in the contrary. Several state economic investments such as the Banana Farm in Tai have been abandoned; the farm is now overgrown with weeds and all the workers sent home. “The list is endless. If this is what Wike and Obuah call ‘vision and laudable achievements in only five months’ then, they need urgent forgiveness from man and God.”

The APC spokesman said it was also important to remind Wike and Obuah that no amount of propaganda would obliterate the fact that Amaechi  started a number of road projects in the state which later became victims of sharp drop in federal allocations.

“Rivers people will continue to remember how these roads were as at 2007 when the former governor assumed office.  The Ada-George Rd, Rumuokwuta – Choba Rd, Rumuola Rd, Elekahia Rd, Trans-Amadi – Oginiba Rd, Garrison – Slaughter Rd, Slaugher – Elelenwo Rd, Peter Odili – Akpajo Rd, Ikwerre Rd, the Eleme Interchange, the Agip Flyover, the Eliozu Flyover, Bori Internal Roads and several other roads and bridges too numerous to name here. The hundreds of modern medical centres, the world-class ear, nose and dental hospital at Garrison, the Prof. Kelsey Harrison Hospital, Emenike Street; the several modern primary and secondary schools completed and uncompleted would speak for him in history. Several of Rivers sons and daughters who were sent in search of the Golden Fleece will not fail to mention to the next generation about the man called Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.”

In all these, he reminded Wike and Obuah that the person who drove the execution of most of the projects was Dakuku Adol Peterside, governorship candidate of the APC, who served as the Rivers State commissioner for works between 2007 and 2011.

He said people in the state would also not fail to name Wike and the PDP as those who presided over their forceful deportation and truncation of their future. History has a way of being kind to the just and very unforgiving of bad people.

He said the tribunals had confirmed the position of Peterside and the APC that there was no election in substantial part of Rivers State in compliance with the relevant laws and the Nigerian constitution. “If Wike and the PDP prefer to continue to delude themselves by living in their fools’ paradise believing that they won any election when the law says otherwise, then they definitely need help and very quickly too,” the statement said.

The APC therefore called on Wike, Obuah and their supporters in the PDP to be ready with fresh lies because the majority of well-meaning Rivers people had decided to stand with Peterside “to safeguard and ensure the security and prosperity for themselves, their children and coming generation.”
