Massive road construction commences in Ogbaru

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has announced that work would soon commence on the Onitsha-Atani-Ossomala-Ogwuikpele road.

The governor announced this at Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area, LGA, during a Boat Regatta Festival held in the area.

People from all walks of life from, including traditional rulers, and youths trouped out in their numbers at the shores of the River Niger with various dance groups to show solidarity to the governor.

While addressing the gathering, Obiano said that work was ongoing on the Umunankwo-Mputu-Ogwuaniocha road while other roads in the area would be awarded immediately the 2018 budget would have been passed.

Obiano said that six electricity transformers had been approved for distribution to the council area, assuring the people that his government had lofty vision for the development of the area.

The governor expressed delight at the community for upholding positive aspects of their culture, saying his administration would support them in moving on to the next level.

Chinwe Nwaebili, the Anambra State commissioner for Roads, Rail and Water Transportation, acknowledged that the festival, which was an annual event was always used to thank God for successful farming season.

It was also used showcase the rich aquatic culture of Ndi Ogbaru.

She pointed out that the governor had shown people of Ogbaru, a sense of belonging in his administration by appointing many of their own into public offices.

Arinze Awogu, the senior special assistant to the governor on Political Matters, noted that through the festival, they demonstrated their support for Obiano, especially as the November 18 governorship election approached.
