THE Movement for Biafra in Nigeria, MOBIN, and the Biafran Youths Alliance, BYA, the two pro-Biafran groups, have endorsed the candidacy of Tony Nwoye and Dozie Ikedife for the governorship of Anambra State.

The groups, led by Ifeanyi Okonkwo, the national coordinator of MOBIN and 21 LGA coordinators in the state, were received at the campaign office of Nwoye by Peter Ekwueme on behalf of the campaign organisation.

The group explained that their decision was informed on the fact that Nwoye, having formed and led the Ohaneze Youths Council few years ago was the most equipped and qualified of all the candidates to champion the cause of the Igbo man. The group recalled that few months ago, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, visited the father of Dozie Ikedife Jnr, in Nnewi to celebrate his contributions to the cause of the Igbos as the former president-general of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

Okonkwo said: “Having followed our leader Nnamdi Kanu to visit Dr. Dozie Ikedife at that meeting, we are fully convinced that his son Dozie Ikedife Jnr, the running mate of Dr. Tony Nwoye in this election will definitely make a strong case for the Igbo nation. This is what Nnamdi Kanu desired by that visit and this is what he wanted.”

Thanking the groups for their support, John Onyebueze, the immediate past president of the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria, NARD, assured the group that Nwoye who in 2000 formed the Eastern Youths Forum at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus before leading the Ohaneze Youth Council between 2001 and 2003 would never stop working selflessly to protect the interest of the Igbo man in Nigeria as he has earlier thrown his weight behind national reconstruction and integration in line with the demands of notable Igbo leaders and the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
