Timothy Ifedioranma, member representing Njikoka 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, has described empowerment programme as cardinal means of effective representation.

He told newsmen at the Anambra State Assembly Complex, Awka that empowerment of the downtrodden would liberate them from the shackles of poverty to self-reliance.

The legislator said that he had just rounded off a constituency briefing at Enugwu-Ukwu Civic Centre, where he presented his scorecard to his constituents over the past three and half years in office.

According to him, the period under review has been eventful with various empowerment programmes for the youths, widows, the unemployed and indigent students from his constituency.

“I can beat my chest and say that I have done well. When you put my achievements side by side with what others have done, I will say I have done well.

“A few days ago, I received overwhelming and resounding support from my people because I have offered scholarships, trained youths in skills acquisition, presented cash gifts to pregnant women and nursing mothers,’’ he added.

He urged stakeholders to abide by the recently adopted zoning arrangement among the three communities in the constituency.

“The people of Enugwu-Ukwu, Nawfia and Enugwu-Agidi are all in agreement with the zoning formula, because bearing grudges will not do anybody any good; it is for the good of the communities,’’ he said.

We gathered that under the adopted zoning arrangement in the constituency, Nawfia community would be allowed to occupy the legislative seat for eight year term followed by Enugwu-Agidi and Enugwu-Ukwu in that order.
