REV. Tor Uja, the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), on Tuesday urged all Nigerians to take active parts in rebuilding the nation.
Uja, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, advised that all hands must be on deck to put the country on the right track again.
He said the country belonged to all Nigerians and as such the job of fixing the country must not be left to government alone.
“Nigeria is an evolving country; it’s a growing nation and growth comes with challenges and the challenges come as a result of expectations, situations and imagination.
“I want Nigerians to take courage because the security challenges facing the country will only be for a small period of time; it will surely pass away.
“Several years ago, nobody could go to America, there was all manners of criminality and banditry, but today it is different. Nigeria will overcome her challenges and I urge everybody to take active part in rebuilding the nation.
“We cannot abandon the responsibility for government alone; this country belongs to all of us and we must rebuild it for our own good.
“Although it is a bad situation, but it is not a hopeless situation, so everybody must get involved irrespective of class and levels, we must fight together,’’ he said.
Uja assured Nigerians that the country would soon get over its insecurity challenges and advised the citizens to abide by the laws.
He said that individuals should embrace the security initiatives of government because anything contrary would destroy the country.
Uja said that the appropriate agencies with the constitutional responsibility should rise up to overhaul the security architecture in the country.
He said that Christians must provide positive direction by faith as God is taking Nigeria to a greater glory.
“We have no other country, but Nigeria. So, we must put in our best in building and developing this great nation.
“We must pray and stand together until we get the change we are praying for. We must, as Christians, advocate for what is right.’’
According to him, the time we are in doesn’t call for silence from the church; this is a time for the church to lend its voice in moving the country forward.
“Nigeria is going through difficulty now. Nigeria is surrounded by all kinds of challenges now, no doubt we are living in one of the most difficult times, but it will pass, Nigeria will surmount these challenges.
“Only the word of God has the power and effect to change and shape lives. We must remove denominational differences and be united by the word of God; it is time to prove your Christianity,” he said. (NAN)
