SEN. Ali Ndume(APC-Borno) says there is no cause for alarm over crisis that rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.
Ndume, a federal lawmaker, told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) when he featured on its flagship programme in Abuja, that all was being done to reconcile aggrieved parties.
He noted that contrary to belief that the crisis would affect the party’s popularity, APC was still the people’s favourite.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari and other stakeholders were already reconciling warring factions.
“Party crisis during primary elections is not restricted to the All Progressives Congress.
“The reason for the crisis is because APC is the beautiful bride and many people wanted to identify with it.
“The party is highly marketable and Nigerians have confidence in it. If you are working for your people they will vote for you,” he said.
On litigations that might follow the crisis, Ndume said a reconciliation committee had already been set up by the party.
He noted that, “It is an in-house fight and it will be settled.
”We are hopeful that it will not get out of hand because the most turbulent period has passed.”
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that disagreements had trailed the APC primaries in some parts of the country following allegations of bribery and wrongful substitution of candidates among others
