NSE inducts Anambra deputy governor

NKEM Okeke, the Anambra State deputy governor, has inducted as Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE.

The induction took place during the 10th Fellowship Conferment Lecture and Ceremony held at the Africa Hall, International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The occasion, which featured the conferment of 39 engineers, has its theme; “Financing Infrastructure Projects in Nigeria: The Role of the Infrastructure Bank.’’

Okeke while addressing members of NSE, Awka branch of NSE, during their congratulatory visit to his office, said he was elated at becoming `Fellow of NSE’.

He pledged his support to the association, especially the Awka branch.

Okeke, while welcoming the outgoing and incoming chairmen, NSE Awka branch, Edmond Nkalu and Martin Agbili, described Nkalu as a man with good sense of humility and approach.

He said of the incoming, “Mr Agbili is a go-getter, who is focused is well on his career.’’

Okeke, then, commended Agbili for his impressive efforts at discharging his duties well as Anambra State chief fire officer.

The deputy governor, then, prayed for Agbili’s tenure as chairman, NSE Awka branch to be successful while thanking them for their visit.

Earlier, Nkalu who commended the deputy governor for his contributions to NSE Awka branch noted that the branch had acquired two plots of land for the building of an Engineering Centre in the state.

Agbili congratulated the Deputy Governor on his latest achievement as a Fellow of the society,

He, then, invited him to the upcoming investiture of the new chairman and induction of executive members and new members.

Agbili while exchanging views with newsmen said that his leadership would aim at on continuity.

He noted that his tenure would commit to build an engineering centre on the plots of land already acquired by his predecessor.

The incoming chairman also pointed out that measures would be taken to check building collapse in the state, saying that adequate testing of materials would be emphasised.

He noted that a committee had been constituted to look into building deficiencies and to ensure that building works were in line with engineering ethics.

Agbili, then, pledged that under his tenure NSE would enjoy solid collaboration with the Anambra government in order to achieve its mission.
