THE Anambra State government has announced that the service will hold its next activities at the permanent Orientation at Mgbakwu.

“It is out plan to ensure that the project is not only completed but hold next NYSC activities at the permanent orientation camp at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu,’’ Governor Willie Obiano said during the swearing in Batch A members, at Umunya Tempory Camp site.

The governor was represented by Solo Chukwulobelu, the secretary to the state government, SSG.

“When fully completed, will not only provide corps members with modern camp facilities, but also give them a good head start in order to enhance their integration and productivity in the state.’’

Obiano urged the corps members to take advantage of the entrepreneurship training in the camp and equip themselves toward self-employment after service, rather than waiting employment.

According to him, we have transited to an age of entrepreneurship from the white collar job dispensation.

However, said that his government would continue to provide enabling environment for youths to maximize their potential of self-realisation and self-employment.

“As you formally commence your one year national service today, I implore you to exhibit the highest degree of loyalty, dedication, discipline and commitment to national ideals,’’ Obiano urged.

Bonaventure Enemali, the chairman, Anambra State NYSC Governing Board and commissioner, Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, enjoined corps members to pay special attention to Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneur Development, SAED.

Enemali noted that this, SAED, had been tested and proved to be the most viable option for the declining white collar jobs, noting that with this, they would be employers of labour, rather seeking employment.

He appealed corps members to aspire to the zenith of their dreams and see Anambra State as safe enough to achieve anything legitimately.

He enjoined them to emulate their predecessors, who distinguished themselves by the very first step they took in the camp.

Earlier in his introductory address, Kehinde Aremu, the state coordinator, NYSC in Anambra State, extolled the benevolence of Obiano in getting the camping programme going, in spite of the fact the camp was devastated by rainstorm on March 22.

Aremu thanked the Governor for always lending listening ears to corps members and the service, wherever the need arose.

He also noted that this was in addition to the huge allowances paid to corps members in Anambra State, which according to him, remains the highest in the whole federation.

“I wish to assure you that your personal and Anambra State’s investment in these young Nigerians is not unnoticed, it will be rewarded, soon,’’ Aremu said.

He urged them to fit into the agenda of Gov. Obiano administration as school teachers, agric extension workers, rural healthcare givers as well as foot soldiers in the emerging robust economy being built by the Obiano administration.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 2,048 corps members, comprising 1,037 females and 1,011 males we administered the NYSC oath of allegiance by Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu, the Anambra State acting chief judge.

Top government functionaries including C Don Adinuba, the state commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, was represented by Tony Nezianya, the special assistant to governor on Media.
