Obiano promises better working condition for civil servants

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has promised to commence at N500 million Housing Estate for workers in state by January 2018.

The government made this promises when he spoke to workers at this year’s public Service Day held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka on November 7, 2017.

He told the workers that the Anambra State Executive Council was already deliberating making the existing contributory pension non-compulsory.

‘’ We shall soon come out with a final decision on the matter.’’

He promised to continue ensure yearly promotions of staff as at when due.

The governor; however, urged workers to to vote en-masse for his return at the November  18 governorship poll.

Harry Udu, the Anambra State Head of service, then, highlighted some of the achievements of the Obiano administration since he  assumed office.

These include the offsetting of backlog of pension and gratuity to former workers of Anambra State Service, ABS, and Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, ANPC, publishers of national Light newspapers.

The head of service  then, enjoined the workers to vote for the governor and his team at the upcoming election.

Udu and his predecessor, Chidi Ezeoke, performed the award giving ceremong of the best staff of each of the Ministries and Agencies at the event.

Ikenna Egbunike, driver of the permanent secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication Strategy, adjudged as the best in information ministry was presented the ‘Best Staff Award.
