Victor Ochei, speaker emeritus, Delta State House of Assembly enjoins Nigerian students to support candidates with proven record of achievement

AHEAD 2015 gubernatorial contest in Delta State, Nigerian students have been urged to support candidates with track record of pragmatic and innovative developmental programmes that will in the final analysis have positive impact on the electorate. The call was made by Victor Ochei when the Zone B (South-East and South-South) zones of the National Association of Nigerian Students paid him a solidarity visit in Asaba.

As the future leaders of the country, it behoves on you to always ensure that you support and vote in candidates who have the interest of the polity at heart, Ochei, who was the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly said.

He also requested the students to equally ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan secures a second term slot at the presidency, as continuity will engender the much valued upliftment of the Nigerian masses, adding that as the students are staunch believers in his (Ochei’s) “Yes, We Believe” campaign mantra, he will strive to justify the confidence reposed in him by the solidarity visit, and pledged not to deviate from the expectation of the electorate.

Earlier, Ifeanyi Chukwu, popularly called Wowo, Zone B coordinator of the association, said that their visit stemmed from the need to encourage and identify with an aspirant whose impressive and prolific antecedents will assuredly add value to the lives of Deltans and humanity.

Meanwhile, another youth has reaffirmed its support for Ochei’s gubernatorial ambition. A 10-man delegation of the South-South Youth Political Struggle, SSYPS, declared its support for the aspiration of the immediate past Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, as well as Jonathan’s second term bid.

Gabriel Choba, director of Media and Strategy, SSYPS, who revealed this during a solidarity visit in Asaba, stated that their support for Ochei emanated from his impressive track record during his tenure as the Speaker of the state Legislature, as well as having the exceptional listening characteristic. He also added that ‘’we have taken our stand by deciding to support and vote a man of the grassroots into the governorship position of the state believing that his antecedents will in no small measure ensure the replication of his accomplishments within the state’’.

Speaking also, Emmanuel Satu, chairman of the group, assured Ochei of their unconditional support in his quest for the governorship of the state, adding that ‘’as youths, we believe you are one of us, considering the fact that you are the youngest amongst aspirants, and as such, we expect a perfect synergy in the realisation of the axiom that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow’’

Responding, Ochei expressed appreciation for the group’s confidence in him, promising to always carry along all strata of the society in the quest for developing the various facets of Delta state.
