THE election tribunals sitting in Asaba, capital of Delta State and Jos, Plateau State, have declared their respective incumbent governors as winners of the elections held in the two states on April 11. The tribunals said both Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Simon Lalong, his Plateau counterpart, upheld the election of the governors in their separate judgments delivered on Monday, October 26.

The tribunal in Asaba dismissed the petition filed against Okowa, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by Great Ogboru, candidate of the Labour Party and his party. The three-man tribunal chairman said the petition lacked merit and awarded N50,000.00 cost to Okowa and the PDP.
