The disagreement between the Akure and Isolo communities in the Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State over the occupier of the throne of Osolo of Isolo community, has yet to be resolved.

The kingmakers of Isolo warned the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, to steer clear of the kingship affairs of the town.

They alleged that the Akure monarch imposed one Prince Edward Adewole as Osolo of Isololand, saying the Deji’s action was against the state government’s directive to traditional institutions.

The spokesman for the kingmakers,  High Chief Hezekiah Babatunde, added that the Deji’s action was an abuse of court process since the status of the traditional ruler of the town was before the Supreme Court.

Babatunde said the stool of Osolo remained vacant in the eye of the law, adding that “counsel to the appellants in the Supreme Court case, Chief Wole Olanipekun, told the court at the last sitting that the stool remained vacant until the apex court made its pronouncements on the suit filed by both Iralepo of Isinkan and Osolo of Isolo to determine their true status.

However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Akure monarch, Mr Michael Adeyeye, said the Deji had not done anything against the law, insisting that Adewole was the new Osolo.

“All the residents of Isolo are happy with the new Osolo,” he added. – Punch
