ORA writes State Assembly, asks for reduction of UNIOSUN’s tuition fees

A GROUP, Osun Renewal Agenda, ORA, a.k.a. Akinbade’s ambassador has written a passionate appeal letter to the Osun State House of Assembly over the recent 140 percent increment tuition fees of the Osun State University, UNIOSUN, calling for the reduction of the tuition fees to the barest minimum in the interest of the good masses of the state.

It also alleged that the current state House of Assembly members as representatives of the people, were not showing concern to the plight of the affected students’ parents and guardians, who would bear the brunt of the payment, saying that the 140 percent tuition fees increment would bring untold hardship to the parents and guardians alike.

ORA is a social-political platform rooting for the emergency of Abdulfatai Akinade Akinbade, a former secretary to the Osun State government, as governor of the state in 2018.

The appeal was contained in a letter dated Thursday November 9, 2017 with the title:”State of Education in Osun State: Passionate Appeal for reduction of 140 percent increment of UNIOSUN Tuition fees in the interest of Osun masses,” and signed by Stephen Adekunle Omotunde, its director-general, which copies were made available to newsmen on Tuesday, November 14.

The letter said part:”We are constrained to write your office this important letter in the interest of the good people of the State in order to use your good offices as a representatives of the people to look into the recent 140 percent increment of the Osun State University(UNIOSUN) tuition fees which has been the parents and guardians alike a sleepless night, due to the state of their present economy and earning as a result of the half salaries payment regime of the present administration under the watch of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola in the State.

“As we all know, Osun State is a Civil Service State and 80 percent students of the Citadel of learning are indigenes of the State and there is no way the parents and guardians of the affected students could fund the Education of their wards with exorbitant tuition fees.

“Consequent upon this, we have taken it upon ourselves to make this onerous wake-up call to you and your colleagues so as to save the golden future of these leaders of tomorrow.”

ORA then urged the state Assembly to live up to the expectation by giving due consideration to the group’s letter on the subject matter as a matter of public urgency.
