TO check the spread of the coronavirus, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has vowed to sanction motorists who engage in overloading.

Mr Rotimi Adeleye, the State Commander of FRSC, gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Akure.

Adeleye said that the measure was part of the Federal Government’s directives which Ondo State Government had keyed into.

He also advised that individuals should engage in social distancing in order to fight the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

‘‘Drivers are to ensure that only one passenger occupies the front seat and not more than three people at the rear in order to avoid body contacts.

‘‘However, drivers and passengers are also enjoined to make use of nose masks and hand sanitisers while washing their hands regularly in order to curtail the spread of the coronvirus.

“Vehicle owners and drivers are enjoined to always sanitise and disinfect their vehicles often. Consequently, the use of Passengers Manifest is strictly to be complied with by all drivers henceforth,” he said. (NAN)
