GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has urged the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state to sustain the peaceful legacy of its late chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde.

Ajimobi gave the advice in Ibadan on Thursday while receiving leaders of the union in his office.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the NURTW delegation was led by the acting state Chairman, Alhaji Abideen Olajide.

The governor stated that the late Oyerinde played  a pivotal role in the maintenance and sustenance of peace and security in the state.

He said that the greatest honour that could be given to the late NURTW boss was to toe the path of peace which he restored and maintained during his lifetime.

“We gave the late Oyerinde a directive to maintain peace and security which he did commendably during his lifetime.

“The nucleus of our success is the maintenance of peace and security of which the late Oyerinde played a pivotal role.

“We will continue to cherish the memory of  the peace he left behind,” he said.

Ajimobi also pledged to support the family of the late NURTW boss who died on Tuesday in Abuja.

The governor urged Olajide to accommodate all members of the union to check  any form of dispute. (NAN)
