The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Sunday hailed the synergy and cooperation displayed by various security agencies in Enugu State during the Presidential and National Assembly polls.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that security agencies in the state opened a joint security control room on Saturday, which was domiciled at the Police Command headquarters, Enugu.

Mr Sam Chinda, Comptroller of NIS, Enugu State Command, gave the commendation while speaking with NAN.

Chinda said that the security agencies worked very seamlessly and smoothly, adding that there was no record of disagreement among personnel of the agencies.

“This is the first time in an election we are having a synergy that worked beyond our expectations even in the security circle.

“I will wish this type of togetherness can be sustained in the state even in our everyday security duties in the state.

“Nigerians of various association and strata can also work in this type of unison and cooperation to move the nation forward and create better bonding among us all,’’ he said.

The comptroller said that the poll was generally peaceful, without violence and unnecessary hiccups.

“The electorate in the state displayed a high sense of maturity and patience throughout the voting hours and it should be commended,’’ he added.

Security agencies in the state that participated in the polls included Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police and Department of State Security Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Others are Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Prisons Service, Federal Fire Service and State Vigilant Services. (NAN)
