Primaries: APC aspirant urges delegates to vote according to conscience

Jonathan Chukwuma , an House of Representative aspirant has called on party delegates to vote according to their conscience in the forthcoming primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The aspirant, who is contesting for Igbo Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday.

Chukwuma urged delegates and the electorate to shun vote selling and elect candidates of their choice for the elections.

The aspirant, who was a former deputy speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, described those trying to influence party delegates with money as `incredible candidates’.

Chukwuma who hails from Uzo-Uwani LGA said that it was the turn of the area to produce a representative for the federal house adding that his LGA had earlier signed an agreement with Igbo Etiti council that the position should be rotational.

The aspirant said that the two people that purchased the nomination forms were from Igbo Etiti adding that the council had been in the position for the past seven years.

Chukwuma said that National Assembly screening would come up on Sept 20 and expressed the hope that he would emerge as the party’s flag bearer.

He explained that he had been doing series of consultation to the stakeholders in his federal constituency and was assured of their support.

The former deputy speaker called on other aspirants not to see the election as a do or die affair and urged them to support whoever that emerged as the flag bearer. (NAN)
