THE National Patriotic Support North and South Indigenes for All Progressives Congress, APC, is to honour some prominent Nigerians who helped the party to win the 2015 general elections while marking its second anniversary on Sunday, October 11. The Theme of the event, which will hold at the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry Auditorium, Lagos, is “Breaking the Stronghold of Ethnicity Politics and Sentiment.”

According to Bright Obasimbasi, founder of the group, the highlights of the epoch making event includes, conferment of a prestigious award of Mother General to Her Excellency Aisha Muhammadu Buhari; national prayer service for the success of the present government, and conferment of best Performance and Excellence Leadership Awards to some personalities including I. C. Dimgba, Greg O. Anosike, Nkechi Vera Chukwuneke, former special assistant to Governor Fashola on Women Ethnic Group Mobilisation/Empowerment, Attahiru Musa, managing director, Hasy Oil & Gas Limited, among others.

According to Obasimbasi, his group is all about supporting the progress and growth of APC. “We are a group of corporate politicians that came together to support our party. This group was founded two years ago and since then we have been proactive in all our dealings. We participated fully in endorsing President Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and all other APC candidates in Lagos. We participated fully during the campaign by organising our campaigns alongside the party’s own.

“After the elections we sat and reviewed our activities and programmes, we came to a conclusion that we should honour those who sacrificed their time and resources to make sure that APC won the elections. We want to use the award to tell the whole world that these 15 people really deserve to be praised because they augmented the efforts of the party,” he said.

Obasimbasi said his group wants to use its activities to propagate APC as a national party and not a regional or ethnic party whereby an Ibibioman, Ijebuman, Mbaise man, Kanuriman, Hausal Fulani and Idoma or Tive man will see themselves as one. He said the group is determined to promote both internal and external change through various programmes which will include, but not limited to rallies, conferences, workshops, training, capacity building and empowerment.

“As a responsible group, we will always position ourselves as a watchdog between the masses and the government. We will do this by constantly reminding the government of their electioneering campaign promises to the people. With good governance, Nigerians life expectancy will increase by 100 percent. With President Mohammadu Buhari and Prof. Osinbajo as captains, transparency and accountability in public office will be the watchword. Through freedom of information and the security cover attached to it, Nigerian citizens can contribute their own quota in the fight to end corruption in governance. Therefore let us join hands together with the APC-led national government to bury corruption forever.”

Also, the group plans to design a programme that will support both the federal and state government efforts to curb youth restiveness in the country; organise a national prayer conference for the protection of Nigeria, the president, the vice president and other top government functionaries, and constantly preach peace and unity among Nigerians in the face of crisis.

The National Patriotic Support North and South indigenes for APC has members and supporters nationwide and plans to operate in all the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory and the 774 local government areas.
