More prominent Nigerians pay tribute to memory of Ekwueme

CYPRIAN Nwammuo, the national president of Oko Peoples Union, has described demise of former Vice-President Alex Ekwueme of Nigeria as a big loss to the nation.

Nwammuo, who spoke to newsmen in Oko, commended kwueme for his immense contributions to development of Oko community, which he described as “a land of promise’’.

He enumerated some of his achievements to include, connecting the Oko community to the National grid and founding the polytechnic in the community.

Zokas M Aniazoka, a former chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, described Ekwueme as a man of uncommon humility, whose intellectual capacity was second to none.

Aniazoka suggested also suggested upgrading of Federal Polytechnic, Oko and renaming it after the elder statesman.

Emma Ezenwaji, the traditional prime minister of Umuawulu, noted that Ekwueme was a detribalised Nigerian who God used to restructure Nigeria into six geo-political zones.

Ezenwaji called on Nigerian leaders to emulate his life of humility.

Others who paid tribute to Ekwueme include Harold Mbanusi of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, and Victor Ezeonwumelu, a member of the old Aguata Union.
