The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) would partner with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS)’s Alumni Association, to address the nation’s development challenges.

Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated this while receiving members of the association on Tuesday in Abuja.

Mustapha, who was represented by Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary, General Service Office, OSGF, said that the partnership was important for the country’s socio-economic progress.

“We consider this partnership very critical at this point of our development as a country.

“The country needs to put into use the quality of the knowledge of the Alumni. We have a lot of problems to solve in the country ranging from insecurity, economy, ethnicity, insurgency among others,’’ he said.

He added that the relationship established between the association and the OSGF would be strengthened and the partnership would be duly considered.

Earlier, Mr Khaleel Bolaji, President of the alumni association, said the OSGF was the engine room of the Federal Government’s activities, and stressed the need to harness the knowledge of the alumni members.

He noted that the members were trained with the resources of the country and should not be left redundant.

According to him, the association has prominent and professional members that could proffer solutions to the problems of the country.

“We have a lot we can offer and we believe this office can partner with us and make good use of our members.

“We need to meet regularly to discuss issues in government and render our assistance in proffering solutions to the nation’s problems,’’ he said.

High point of the event was the decoration of the Alumni members with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem by Mrs Amina Shamaki, Permanent Secretary, Special Service Office, OSGF. (NAN)
