South Africa to collaborate with Anambra to transform state’s economy

Anambra State government is to partner South Africa to harness the economic potential.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra said this while briefing newsmen shortly after a closed door meeting with the South African Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Bobby Moroe at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Obiano explained that the meeting explored possible areas of economic cooperation with the South African Government to promote the development of agricultural, electricity and tourism sectors.

He pointed out on the importance of establishing a Business Office in the state to facilitate procurement of visas by citizens.

The South African Acting High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Moroe said he had taken two days to explore the natural economic resources that abound in Anambra State.

The High Commissioner noted that the state had resourceful human capital that was eager to contribute to the transformation of the state’s economy.

He asserted that the South African Government was eager to help in harnessing its tourism industry and tackling challenges of irrigation confronting agricultural production in the area.

Moroe pledged to continually explore opportunities that would help in empowering young people in the state by making them engage in viable economic ventures.
