PAUL Obiekezie, the acting statistician-general, Anambra, has commended S.I. Onyeagu, the national president of National Statistical Association, NSA, of Nigeria, for conducting credible election in Anambra chapter.

Onyeagu had conducted the election with a team.

Obiekezie made the commendation in an interview with newsmen, shortly after the election of new executive at Anambra State Bureau of Statistics, Awka.

He lauded the government for supporting the association through conferences and workshops, aimed at imparting more knowledge and best analytical skills for statistical operations on state’s statistical officers.

He, then, urged the newly elected executive to complement efforts of the Government through sustainable quality service delivery.

Emmanuel Okeke, the newly elected chairman, NSA Anambra chapter, described the outcome of the election as “overwhelming and unexpected.’’

Okeke thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him through nomination and election.

He enjoined the executive to work in synergy with him to actualise the vision and mission of the association.

The chairman also applauded the past executive led by Obiora Iluno Happiness for the progress recorded, especially on recently-concluded National Conference as well as international programme held in Anambra State.

He pledged to achieve more feats with his team in order to move the association to greater heights.

Nkiru Mercy Nweze, the head of Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS, Department in Anambra State Ministry of Trade and Commerce, described the election as transparent, free and fair.

Nweze, who nominated Okeke for the election, described the new chairman as ‘fit for the position’ because of his outstanding qualities and performances in official and social environment.

The HOD, however, urged the executive to work in alliance with members to achieve resounding success.
