Pastor Donatus Obi, the candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP) in Enugu State, has assured of qualitative health care and social welfare for the elderly and the less privileged in the state, if elected.

Ozoemena gave this assurance while flagging-off his campaign officially in Enugu on Monday.

“My administration will revamp the health care system for the benefit of all, as well as provide social welfare for the elderly and the less privileged in the state.

“Now is the time to provide clean drinkable water to prevent water borne diseases?

“Now is the time to bring stable electricity to the people so as to make businesses thrive. Enough of joblessness among our youths in the streets,’’ he added.

“I have spent a good part of my life working in the United States, where we usually confront problems, analyse them for clear understanding, find solutions to them and put mechanisms into actions to resolve them.

“I will bring solution and relief to the many years of suffering of our people in the state’’.

On the rotation of governorship among the three senatorial zones in the state, the UDP flag bearer said it was a joke to sacrifice character and competence, which are the ingredients of great leadership, on the altar of zoning.

Earlier, the state chairman of the UDP, Chief Jideofor Ngene, said his party would provide empowerment, build strong and durable infrastructures and create an enabling environment for the people to live and do their businesses.

“We shall carry everyone along and leave no one behind, as we go to work to bring restoration, dignity, progress, prosperity and greatness to our land.

“I encourage you all to place your hands on deck, as we place our greatness as a state in the map of the world,’’ he said. (NAN)
