PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, chieftains from the South-West on Saturday, November 11, reminded party faithful to be careful of those who claimed to be in the national chairmanship race, yet working for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

They also commended Uche Secondus, former PDP acting national chairman, for showing interest in the national chairmanship contest.

“We need someone who can suppress ethnic and religious bigotry in order to hold the party together. We need somebody who knows the party and who will be dynamic enough to provide responsible leadership. Prince Uche Secondus is the best man for the job,” they said in a statement issued after an emergency meeting in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Signed by Ganiyu Adeola, the chairman, PDP Unity Forum, the leaders commended Secondus for his well-established reputation for tolerance, his amazing and efficient management of resources and ability to manage ethnic relations.

They described the former acting national chairman as a serious minded, dutiful and clear headed individual.

“Prince Uche Secondus is pleasant, dynamic, diligent and hardworking.. He has absolute respect for the constitution of the party. He has also shown potentials, especially political charisma and clout.”

They also praised Secondus for the development of democratic culture country.

“Prince Uche Secondus deserves the biggest thanks for being a team player. If PDP is going anywhere in 2019, it is people like Secondus who would spearhead the attainment of that feat. He has sold himself as a competent, experienced and resourceful man”

The leaders said: “It is time for PDP members to unite and support a realistic man, a liberal and de-tribalised Nigerian, a man with a milk of human kindness flowing in his veins, a man that has the interest of the party at heart”

They declared that they would not allow rabble-rousers and spent political forces to hoodwink the members into accepting them.

They also dismissed the chairmanship ambition of many aspirants, describing them as pretenders.

“We do not need political liability. Some of the aspirants could not deliver their polling unit in 2015. Prince Uche Secondus is an electoral asset,” the statement said.

The PDP Unity Forum is a political organisation established to mobilise Nigerians, home and abroad, towards ensuring the victory of the party in 2019.
