THE Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, says the Senate has learnt from its mistakes and the incoming ninth Senate will not repeat the errors of the past.

Abdullahi, who represents Niger-North District, said this during an interview on NTA on Wednesday shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The lawmaker admitted that the current Senate had some issues with the ruling All Progressives Congress and the executive arm of government.

So far, the APC has won over 60 seats out of the 109 seats.

He said, “One thing that is certain is that for those of us who are fortunate to return, we have learnt our lessons and we know exactly why we got it wrong and I want to assure you that we are already talking to one another to make sure the party is not looking the other way.

“We will work with other stakeholders to ensure that we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past.”

Abdullahi said President Muhammadu Buhari would focus on promoting economic development and fighting insecurity and corruption. – Punch
